Group Membership
Once you have undertaken
a public assessment drive, you will need to join
the Group as an Associate member before you will be able to go on any
further check drives .
Joining the Group is very easy. You buy a Skill For Life package, which costs £99 (see below for special offers for under 25,). This entitles you to Associate Group membership for one year, as many check drives as you need for you to be at test standard, a bimonthly Group newsletter, a new Highway Code , a copy of the IAM's book How to be an Advanced Driver (illustrated on the right), and also includes the IAM test fee. It also contributes towards the Groups mandatory insurance payments.
You
can now order and pay for Skill for Life online from the IAM web site.
For anyone wishing to apply directly to the IAM for an Advanced Driving test, and not be a group member, the cost of the Test is currently £53, which consists of a £35 test fee and one years full IAM membership (currently £18 per year*). There is no requirement to prepare with a Group for the test, although we would strongly recommend it.

Under 25 Membership Discount: They will get a £10 discount from the IAM (with a voucher) which MUST be sent with the Skill for Life application.

This membership is valid for 12 months from the date of joining.
If an Associate has not passed their test after the initial 12 months, but still wishes to take the test A Renewal fee will have to be paid to I A M.
